On June 30, 2003, Channel 101 hosted its very first screening at Thoi on Vine. Previously, Dan Harmon and Rob Schrab had been using the name Super Midnight Movie Show for their film events. Due to the influx of viewership, thus more submissions, Harmon and Schrab had decided to change the festival's narrative to that of a television network.
